NASA SEEKS SPACE TECHNOLOGY GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP APPLICANTS<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
WASHINGTON<\/span><\/span> <\/span>— NASA is seeking applications from graduate students for<\/div>\n
the agency’s new Space Technology Research Fellowships. Applications<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
are being accepted from accredited <\/span>U.S. <\/span>universities on behalf of<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
graduate students interested in performing space technology research<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
beginning in the fall of 2011.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
The fellowships will sponsor <\/span>U.S. <\/span>graduate student researchers who<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
show significant potential to contribute to NASA’s strategic space<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
technology objectives through their studies. Sponsored by NASA’s<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Office of the Chief Technologist, the fellowships’ goal is to provide<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
the nation with a pipeline of highly skilled engineers and<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
technologists to improve <\/span>America’s technological competitiveness.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
NASA Space Technology Fellows will perform innovative space<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
technology research today while building the skills necessary to<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
become future technological leaders.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
“Our Space Technology Graduate Fellowships will help create the pool<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
of highly skilled workers needed for NASA’s and our nation’s<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
technological future, motivating many of the country’s best young<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
minds into educational programs and careers in science, technology,<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
engineering and mathematics,” said NASA Chief Technologist Bobby<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Braun at the agency’s Headquarters in <\/span>Washington. “This fellowship<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
program is coupled to a larger, national research and development<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
effort in science and technology that will lead to new products and<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
services, new business and industries, and high-quality, sustainable<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
jobs. Fellowships will be awarded to outstanding young researchers<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
and technologists positioned to take on NASA’s grand challenges and<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
turn these goals and missions into reality.”<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

The deadline for submitting fellowship proposals is Feb. 23.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
