The California Space Grant Consortium is pleased to announce our Undergraduate Engineering Seminar Series, designed to introduce undergraduate students to funded research opportunities, internships and important information about careers in Engineering. Our first seminar of the 2014-2015 school year promises to provide students with valuable information as they pursue an education in Science and Engineering.<\/p>\n

Upcoming seminar will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014 @ 3:00PM<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaker: Benjamin Martins, Ph.D. Student at UCSD<\/p>\n

Where: UC San Diego\u2019s Jacobs Hall, Room 2512, Henry G. Booker Room\"\"<\/p>\n

  • \"\"<\/a><\/li>\n

    Topic: \u00a0Benjamin will discuss the path that he has taken to get to the Ph.D. program at UCSD with an emphasis on projects and opportunities that have enhanced his journey. The highlighted projects include nano scale reinforcements, small UAV fabrication, active flight load redistribution and structural health monitoring. Ben will share resources available to students on campus which will help them gain valuable experience which can shape their future. He will discuss the connections that have led to his work with NASA, including an internship at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center.<\/p>\n

    Bio: Benjamin Martins received his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from UCSD and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. \u00a0He has published and presented research on many subjects, and his current research efforts in advanced composite flight structures are being funded by NASA’s \u00a0Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate.<\/p>\n
