Our next seminar in the series promises to provide students with valuable information as they pursue an education in Science and Engineering.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Upcoming Seminar will be Wednesday, Nov. 19 \u00a0@ 3:00PM<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Speaker: Spencer Ellis, M.S. Student at UCSD<\/p>\n<p>Where: \u00a0UC San Diego&#8217;s Jacobs Hall, Rm. 2512, Henry G. Booker Room<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/casgc.ucsd.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Spencer-Ellis-head-shot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-6160\" title=\"Spencer Ellis head shot\" src=\"http:\/\/casgc.ucsd.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Spencer-Ellis-head-shot-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Spencer Ellis will discuss the path that he has taken to get to the Master\u2019s program at UCSD and will focus on the connections that have helped pave the way to his career in engineering.\u00a0 He will provide a healthy dose of information for students that can make their journey less stressful and more productive. Spencer will touch on his work as President of the Green Engineers Club as well as his internship at the National Renewable Energy Lab in Colorado.\u00a0 He will share information about the benefits of taking up a variety of activities outside of the classroom and outline the steps to take to gain important networking associations that will lead to internships and projects.<\/p>\n<p>Spencer received his B.S. in Physics from Middlebury College in Vermont where he also studied environmental sciences.\u00a0 He has extensive experience with green engineering and has worked as a student mentor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at UCSD. \u00a0His current research interests are in the application of composite materials to improve marine hydro kinetic energy generators. \u00a0Spencer\u2019s diverse interests range from competitive log rolling to backpacking the John Muir trail and skiing.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, please contact Becky Howard 858-822-1597<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The California Space Grant Consortium is pleased to announce our Undergraduate Engineering Seminar Series, designed to introduce undergraduate students to funded research opportunities, internships and important information about careers in Engineering.
