Summer\u00a0Opportunity at UCSD: <\/strong>The NASA-sponsored California Space Grant Consortium is looking for 8-10 students to work on Space Grant projects\u00a0Summer\u00a02015 on the UC San Diego campus.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Students will work as a team a minimum of 10 hours per week on one of the following projects:
\n(1) Near Space Ballooning:<\/strong> As a team, launch and recover Near Space Balloons. Includes:
\n–Developing Science Payloads
\n–Developing Flight Simulation Programs
\n–Ordering Materials
\n–Conducting Near Space Balloon Launch
\n–Recovering and Analyzing Post-Flight Data
\n–Conducting Outreach to San Diego High Schools and Community Colleges.

\n(2) Small Satellite Program: <\/strong>
\n–Continuing the development of a Ground Station to listen to small university satellites orbiting around Earth.
\n–Contacting other universities that have set up similar systems, then defining requirements, purchasing hardware (antenna, PC) setting up equipment.
\n–Writing needed software.<\/p>\n

(3) Arduino Computer Development and Programming: <\/strong>
\n–Fabricate Arduino Microcomputers for Sensing, Recording, and Analyzing Data.\u00a0 These computers will be used for near space balloons, small satellites, and unmanned aircraft.
\n–Writing Arduino programs to Control Microcomputers.
\n–Conducting Outreach to Community Colleges<\/p>\n

Required Skills:<\/span><\/p>\n

Requirements: <\/strong>
\n–Desire to learn and follow specific directions
\n–Enthusiasm, ability to work in a team, leadership interests, punctuality
\n–Able to work a minimum of 10 hours\/week (preferably more)<\/p>\n

Preferred Skills:<\/span><\/p>\n

Preferences: <\/strong>
\n–Hands-on skills
\n–Programming skills
\n–Sophomore\/junior standing in an engineering\/science major at University of California, San Diego<\/p>\n
