Background: The Institute on Teaching and Mentoring
\n(http:\/\/www.instituteonteachingandmentoring.org\/), has become the largest
\ngathering of minority Ph.D. scholars in the nation. The Institute is hosted by the
\nSREB-State Doctoral Scholars Program. This powerful annual conference unites
\nminority and underrepresented scholars, mentors, and faculty members from over
\n40 states and more than 230 institutions for four days of connecting, teaching,
\nmentoring, knowledge and skill development, and opportunities. The Institute hosts
\nstudents from other organizations such as Gates Millennium Program, the Ronald
\nE. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program, and the National Science
\nFoundation\u2019s Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP). Dozens of
\nintensive sessions motivate and prepare participants to earn doctoral degrees and
\nbecome faculty members, researchers, and the academic leaders of tomorrow.
\nThis year Space Grant is partnering with MUREP to sponsor (i.e., transportation,
\nlodging and some meals) up to 10 graduate students competitively selected from
\nthe Space Grant Consortia. See details below.

\n\u2022 Eligibility: Historically underrepresented and underserved graduate students in
\nSTEM and students from U.S. Dept. of Education identified MSIs; each Consortium
\ncan nominate up to 3 students
\n\u2022 Nomination Criteria: 1 single searchable PDF
\n\u2013 CV of graduate student (max 3 pages) \u2013
\n\u2022 Should highlight NASA aligned research
\n\u2022 Include contact information (Name, Email and Phone)
\n\u2022 Identify the Consortium
\n\u2013 Statement of interest (1 page) \u2013 A first person narrative written by the
\nstudent applicant that addresses:
\n\u2022 The student should identify the reasons why the student wants to
\nattend this conference
\n\u2022 The student should what the student hopes to gain from his\/her
\nattendance
\n\u2022 The student should identify the techniques\/best practices around
\nmentoring that can be taken back to the Consortium
\n\u2022 Explain how the Consortium benefits from his\/her attendance
