{"id":8657,"date":"2022-11-28T10:29:19","date_gmt":"2022-11-28T18:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/casgc.ucsd.edu\/?p=8657"},"modified":"2022-11-28T14:54:55","modified_gmt":"2022-11-28T22:54:55","slug":"nasa-student-airborne-research-program-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/casgc.ucsd.edu\/?p=8657","title":{"rendered":"NASA Student Airborne Research Program 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span class=\"detailSub\">RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Student Airborne Research Program (SARP) is an eight-week summer internship program for rising senior undergraduate students to acquire hands-on research experience in all aspects of a scientific campaign using one or more\u00a0NASA Airborne Science Program flying science laboratories (aircraft used for SARP\u00a0include the\u00a0DC-8, P-3B, Sherpa and\u00a0ER-2).<\/p>\n<p>The NASA Airborne Science Program mantains\u00a0a fleet of aircraft used for\u00a0studying Earth system processes, calibration\/validation of space-borne observations, and prototyping instruments for possible satellite missions. SARP participants will assist in the operation of instruments\u00a0<strong>onboard an aircraft<\/strong>\u00a0to sample atmospheric chemicals, and\/or to image land and water surfaces in multiple spectral bands.<\/p>\n<p>Research areas include atmospheric chemistry, air quality, ecology, and ocean biology. Along with airborne data collection, students will participate in taking measurements at field sites. The program culminates with formal presentations of research results and conclusions.Applications deadline is 1\/30\/23.
