California Space Grant / IDEA Student Center Research Scholarships
- On October 17, 2013
The California Space Grant Consortium and The IDEA Student Center at the University of California, San Diego joined efforts this year to award research scholarships to ten deserving IDEA Scholars. Selected students were awarded $1,000 each and were asked to create a project related to Smart Solar Farms, under the guidance of UCSD Professor Carlos Coimbra.
Not only did these scholars receive exposure to a variety of research methods to help them develop their skills, but they also gained valuable experience working on complex projects with a diverse group of participants. In spring 2013, students presented their projects before a panel which included Professor Coimbra, graduate student mentor David Larson, the Assistant Director of the IDEA Center Gennie Miranda and the Assistant Director of the California Space Grant Consortium, Tehseen Lazzouni. Another follow up presentation will take place this fall.
